The Western Hills Athletic
Club, also known as the Rollingwood Pool, is offering a lifeguard
course to the public. Successful completion of the course will
result in American Red Cross certificates in Lifeguard Training /
First Aid and CPR / AED for Lifeguards. The Red Cross has updated their Lifeguard Training program. It is still in the rollout phase. Costs for the program have gone up, so fees charged by WHAC will go up also. The costs will probably go up more on the recert options than the lifeguard class itself. At our current prices, we would be taking a loss on recerts just on the costs to the Red Cross. Updated information for 2012 will hopefully be posted soon.
Class Schedule for 2011:
This is one
course. Attendance at all class sessions is mandatory. A one hour
lunch break will be given April 2, 3 & 10.
All
participants must be at least 15 years old to participate in the
class.
Cost of the course is $190 a
person and includes all required materials for the course. Seating
in the class is reserved on a first come, first serve basis.
Walk-ins welcome if there is room available. Payment in full is
required to reserve a seat in the class.
Payment should be in the form of a check made
payable to “WHAC” or by credit card.
Recertification options are also available.
Lifeguard Recertification Cost: $60 Class Dates: Saturday, April 16, 2011 Class Times: 10:00am This is a lifeguard challenge. It starts at 10am and goes as long as it needs to. Participants take all written tests and complete finals skills scenarios reguired for American Red Cross certification. Anyone may take the test. It is a testing situation only. No instruction will be given.
CPR Recertification 2011 Recertification is being offered in ARC CPR / AED for the Professional Rescuer. Students need only come once and stay as long as it takes to finish a written test and practical skills challenge. Students will be tested on a first come, first served basis. Materials will be available for review and skills practice. Cost: $30 Dates: Monday - Wednesday, April 20, 2011 Time: 4:30pm - 7:30pm (please don't show up later than 7:00pm). Walk ins welcome. Employment at Western Hills Athletic Club The Western Hills Athletic Club employs part time lifeguards twelve months of the year and gate guards for the months April - September. The number and frequency of hirings occur as needed and vary from year to year based on staff retention. We typically hire in early April, late August, and mid January. Current members of the Western Hills Athletic Club are not eligible for employment. You are welcome to submit an application. If we don't currently have an opening, we can hold your application in case one comes available. Lifeguards: Must be at least 16 years of age and currently certified in American Red Cross Lifeguard Training / First Aid and CPR / AED for the Professional Rescuer. Gate Guards: Must be 15 years of age. |
